It's ok not to be productive

It’s ok not to be productive.

This is not business as usual. Not for anyone.

You don’t need to catch up if you’re not where you thought you’d be right now. March happened and it was horrible.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. It’ll take a while to adjust. One day you’ve nailed it, the next, you’re wading through treacle. That’s ok. Things are shifting and changing so fast. It’s ok if this ‘new normal’ that everyone keeps talking about still feels anything but.

You don’t need to make the most of this time by doing All The Things (Write that book! Learn a language! Feng shui your home!). We’re processing so much change and weirdness already, let’s not add more pressure into the mix.

Instead of cramming in more doing, what if we allowed ourselves to slow down and get comfortable with space? Napping. Reading. Drinking tea and staring out the window. Playing with the kids. Taking three deep breaths.

What if we said yes to quiet?

It’s important that we stay connected during this period of lockdown. I love that there are so many ways for us to come together. And I’ve felt overwhelmed by all the extra opportunities to connect in recent weeks.

So yes, get the online support, interaction and fun that you need. And know that it’s ok to opt-out from time to time. To choose quiet.

Give yourself space, even if that’s just 30-seconds of peace amidst the chaos.

You know best what you need.

Pause. Breathe. Listen.

It’s ok not to be productive.
